Oh look at that, another blog hiatus!
And let's talk about that last post. It certainly was meant light heartedly...
That's the thing about blogging. Looking back can be a good and/or a bad thing. Sometimes you write in the moment and re-reading makes you wonder how you felt or thought that way.
The start of Spring and those feelings seem so long ago already...
Speaking of long ago, I have been blogging (off & on) for almost 3.5 years now! This little push to return to posting comes to you by having to renew my domain name. Which happens to be 2 years old now!
But there's been other signs, to start writing, too. People asking me about my blog, people telling me to pursue writing, people commenting that this is what I should focus on.
Truth is, I never planned to take this hiatus. As I usually don't plan most ;)
Life has been a busy, yet not busy, whirlwind lately.
Enter post topic: Balance.
I'm struggling with balance lately.
There are so many things I want to do and accomplish in my day to day, and in, well, life.
It's overwhelming.
Where do I start? What do I prioritize? Read: HOW do I prioritize?
And then how do I not feel guilty about all I don't get to do? Or "make happen."
What should I be doing (first?)
This seems to be a good spot to insert a quote from one of my favourite authors:
"Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act." - Dr. Suess
If my heart is talking it wants to follow up with the optimist quote from this book:
"And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)"
But when it comes to balance, my head is sometimes more:
"I'm afraid that some times you'll play lonely games too. Games you can't win 'cause you'll play against you."
Let's call this a come back post though and finish off positive with:
"KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!"
"So... get on your way!"

Gosh, that book (Oh, the Places You'll Go!) is spot on.
Beyond quotes, too.
Back tracking to how long I've been blogging... This book kind of parallels how my writing has grown. My blog started as a place to document my pregnancy and share baby updates. Over time it evolved in to more "dear diary" posts, insights in to motherhood and life, and writing became a creative outlet for ME.
If I've lost you with the parallel. I'm thinking call it a "children's" book but it's truly a pick-me-up for adults, or inspiration for any age. You might sit down to read it to your child (how my blog started out about baby) but in the end you realize that the story was equally important to you. Like how this little blog is a space for me... To share, to learn, to grow.
So here's to making time for this space when I choose to.
To balance.
To maybe not doing it all, but making the best of all you can do, when you can do it :)
